You bought it, you should own it.
Period.
You should have the right to use it, modify it, and repair it whenever, wherever, and however you want.
While much of today’s Right To Repair conversation revolves around tech, the Right To Repair movement spans many industries. The Right To Repair is not only good for consumers (that’s you) but also for the small businesses in your backyard (that’s places like Howie’s). Howie’s Jewelers fights for your right to fix your property.
How This Impacts You & Howie’s
Think about your wristwatch. What happens when it stops working? In many cases the owner would need to send the watch back to the manufacturer to be fixed. This costs the owner more money, and often more time without their watch sitting comfortably on their wrist. When you have the option to bring in that same wristwatch for your local, certified jeweler to repair, it’s a win for you, often a win for your pocketbook, and a win for that small business.
The Good News:
YOU can take action today in support of
Right To Repair!
This year, New York could be the first state in the nation to pass the Fair Repair Act: S4104 in the Senate, and A7006 in the Assembly. We have a chance to guarantee our right to repair electronic equipment—like smartphones, computers, and even farm equipment. We have a chance to protect local repair jobs—the corner mom-and-pop repair shops (like Howie’s!) that keep getting squeezed out by manufacturers.
